The new year has started off on a good note! Officer Brent Maxey of the East Precinct reported a decrease in the number of crimes in our neighborhood, which consisted predominantly of car prowls, especially along Powell Boulevard. To prevent larcenies and theft, take an additional minute to remove items from the cabin when leaving your car, and park it in a well-lit location. Besides remembering to remove all electronic devices, if you have a GPS unit, use wipes to clean off the ring left on the windshield at the attachment site.

Friends of Trees representative Logan Louvray made a brief presentation regarding the organizations’s two main programs: Green Space Initiative and Neighborhood Trees. They are gearing up for planting in South Tabor on January 22. The planting season runs October – April. If you would like to volunteer check out their website atwww.friendsoftrees.org.

Do you enjoy the satisfied feeling that comes after cleaning house on a beautiful spring day? If so, consider becoming the coordinator for this year’s annual cleanup in late May.

Neighbors, we are bidding farewell to our beloved quarterly newsletter! The green missive that used to bring you information about the neigborhood cleanup and festivals will have to be retired due to high printing and mailing costs.
